James Chapter 3 vs Facebook

I've spoken about social networking sites on here before, but today has really got to me. I turn on facebook to see yet more bitching between people over a situation that happened ages ago. I'm sick of seeing the same thing everyday. "your a dick" or "come say it to my face" or arguments over someones opinion and then arguments happening after. I think most of peoples gossip comes from facebook. We see something happening so we "stalk" their profiles trying to find out information just to gossip more.

Then I was reminded of a teaching that Callum Wyles bought to Life Group that Dave Betts had taught him.
"9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water " James Chapter 3.

Basically, if we say someone says something harsh, or untrue about us, we'll get upset, it'll hurt us, and it causes trouble, but how many times do we think about when WE say something about another person thats hurtful, do we think about how it'd affect that person? Truth is we don't. We just go ahead and say it not thinking about the aftermath. See when it is said on facebook other people get involved, and then the whole thing becomes a mountain out of a mole hole, when in reality if we kept our mouths shut and resisted the temptation to gossip or retaliate to other people the whole thing can be avoided.

Some call this James 3 Culture. I want to challenge those who read this to prevent themselves from gossiping. Write J3C on your hand and it helps. I'm aware some of this doesn't make all that much sense. But I'm sick of seeing negativity and bitching and gossiping. It isn't necessary.
