I lady from Sheffield came down and started to chatting to me and various others from life about cultural tradition and faith in the Bracknell community. It was a sort of awkward conversation to begin with, none of us knew what to say, however later on she started talking about how it'd be beneficial if people were to go to different events such as go to a mosk or a temple. for a service To teach people about different cultures and traditions.
After speaking to this lady I started to think, when I was at school there was only 2 religions I ever learnt about. Muslim and Sikh. Bad isn't it? Now the school I went to doesn't teach Religious studies at all. Personally I think it's disgusting. What if we where to meet a person who was from a different Religion then accidently insult them, purely because we don't know enough about their culture?
My friend Sam Jackson said that "people are too culturally unaware" what if we weren't? What if we knew about all these different cultures.
Just before I go wedding dress hunting with my Aunty, I want to challenge you. How many people do you know that are either Muslim, Sikh, Hindu, Buddhist? What if you did? Would you find out about their culture? Or would you just leave it? Would you like to know more people from different religions? Take that step and start meeting new people, you never know what you could learn.
